Exciting stuff!

Fellow FellowHelloooo! I have some exciting stuff to share with you today :)

While it may appear that I’ve dropped off the radar these past few weeks, I’ve actually been a busy bee creating a new blog and identity for my new business, Fellow Fellow!

I’ve had a lot of questions about what I’ll be doing while we’re in Singapore and I can now tell you that, along with the blog, I’ll be screen printing and handmaking products to sell online. A bit like this neck of the woods, but different products – and full time. It’s not yet 100% settled that I will be working for myself full-time (waiting for the paperwork!), so until then I thought I’d get the Fellow Fellow blog underway. So come on over and say hi! :)

At this stage, I still plan to use this blog to post about more personal experiences in Singapore, however most of the focus will now go to Fellow Fellow. Hope to see you over there soon!

Um, cupboards in Singapore are really big, right?

When I wrote this post a few weeks ago about needing more cupboard space, I’d completely forgotten that we still had a stack of pottery (that we’d started working on months ago) waiting to be finished. We went late last week to finished them off with some glaze, with our wonderful teacher Sandra there to help us out (thanks San!). They should have actually been fired now, but we can’t pick them up until later this week.. fingers crossed there aren’t any cracks!

the most comfortable of spots

Happy Sunday! I’ve been busy today, broadening my screen printing abilities with pillow cases.. I love spots! I’m really happy with how they turned out, so I might attempt some other patterns and colours now :)

Gifted Magazine

A little while ago, I was asked by the amazing Ez of Creature Comforts to be one of the contributors for her upcoming Gifted Magazine… naturally I said yes! My contribution was to be in the form of a holiday-inspired DIY.

Well, I am thrilled to say that the magazine was released yesterday, and that Ez has done an amazing job! It’s full of wonderful people, shops, and inspiration – plus some great DIY’s (mine is on page 98!), so do go and check it out!

Congratulations Ez!

Small Caps

Since opening my etsy store, I’ve met and become friends with some amazing people that I would never have known otherwise. One such person is Lisa, who lives and works in Berlin – hi Lisa! She has been so kind and encouraging to me over the past few months, so I was thrilled to get the opportunity to meet her in person while we were visiting Berlin.

Being the kind person that she is, Lisa then organised for us to go and meet her very good (and very talented!) friend Sabrina of Small Caps (blog) - hi Sabrina! Sabrina makes beautiful letterpress work, and has an extremely cute studio that I got to go and visit! She graciously allowed me to be a geek and take some photos while I was there, and I’ve shared them below. If anyone out there didn’t know – I LOVE LETTERPRESS! so you can imagine I was a ball of excitement getting to see how it all works!

Sabrina – thank you so much for letting me see your studio and how you work.. you are truly inspiring and I look forward to seeing what you create next! and Lisa – what a wonderful person you are! I am so grateful to have met you in person, and I really hope to see you again soon!

seeds

My wonderful friend Aude had her birthday on Tuesday.. and seeing as it’s now spring, I thought I’d screen print some seed packets to send her way. They included dahlia, beetroot, tomatoes, a herb mix, beans and gold-ball-flower-things. I had heaps of fun making them, and I hope the birthday girl gets as much fun out of watching them grow :) I hope you had a great day Aude!

Technicolour spots

A current work in progress. I have grand plans for this to become one of two posters for my wall.. but I’ll see how I feel about that idea once I actually finish this one! Only about a thousand more spots to go!first sittingsecond sittingthird sitting

slip-casting

One of our on-going projects over the last couple of months has been slip-casting bowls. I think we now have about 6 bowls all made with this process, so we’ll take them off to be fired soon! We probably could have done a lot more bowls in all this time, but we’ve been pretty lazy with the whole thing really.. we keep forgetting about it!

Neu VitraHaus

Last weekend we took the opportunity to visit the amazing new VitraHaus, which is only about a 10 minute drive from where we live. It really was fantastic – so many chairs, so little time! I just wish they were a little bit cheaper.. or me a bit richer, because I would really like to buy one before we leave Germany. Naturally, it’s this one that’s had me drooling for quite a while now, but at just under €5,000 I’ll be lucky to own it at all in my lifetime. Instead, I have my eye on either this one with wooden legs, or this one.. and then probably trying to find a second-hand one at that :) Wish me luck! And go visit the Haus if you’re around – it’s well worth it!
