slip-casting

One of our on-going projects over the last couple of months has been slip-casting bowls. I think we now have about 6 bowls all made with this process, so we’ll take them off to be fired soon! We probably could have done a lot more bowls in all this time, but we’ve been pretty lazy with the whole thing really.. we keep forgetting about it!

Little Box Bags

In a bid to keep away from mobiles for a little while, I’ve picked up sewing again – this time in preparation for our big trip home at the end of the week. I decided that I needed some small bags to carry stuff in (as you do) and found an excellent tutorial for some box bags here. The instructions are really easy to follow, the only thing I had trouble with were getting all the corners equal (as you may tell from the photos!). I did end up doing a lot of unpicking, but by the 4th bag, I was a pro :D

New garlands

We had gorgeous weather yesterday, so I took the opportunity to get some photos of the garlands I’ve been working on.

So I’m finally getting some images up of something I’ve been working on lately. It turned out to be very difficult to photograph! I’m hoping to eventually sell my work in an etsy shop.. but want to get a few more together first.

Freiburg ceramic market

Yesterday we headed to Freiburg with some friends to visit a ceramic market being held in a park just outside the centre of town. There were some really fantastic pieces on offer, but one stall in particular really caught our attention and we ended up walking away with with a couple of their beautiful pieces (not before we’d spent a good half hour standing at their stall in turmoil, trying to justify buying everything on the table!).

The photos above are what we ended up with.. it makes me happy just looking at them! They’re by Medi Zimmermann, who I think also has a showroom/shop in Villingen, a small town east of Freiburg. Unfortunately they don’t have a website.. but I can imagine the shop would be worth a visit if you *happen* to be in the area!
